OS X Lion & OS X Lion Server
OS X Lion is here!
Wondering if it's right for you?
Here's what you need to know
Now available, the newest version of Mac OS X 10.7 Lion includes over 250 new features. However, this version of OS X is a little different: for the first time, Apple is not providing the OS on CD or DVD, but exclusively for download from the Mac App Store.
Also, Lion removes Mac OS support for older applications that were originally written for the PowerPC processor. If you depend on older applications, you may wish to delay upgrading for now. Check this list at the "Roaring Apps" website to see if your applications are compatible with Lion.
Lion System Requirements
- A Mac with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
- 2GB of RAM minimum, 4GB strongly recommended
- The latest version of Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard), with the Mac App Store installed
- At least 10GB of free hard drive space
Finally, because the Lion installer runs directly off of your hard drive it is strongly recommended to have a Time Machine backup or other hard drive back BEFORE you proceed. Not sure how to create a backup or setup Time Machine? We’re always happy to help, just ask.
